end of year

18 Dec

December came, finally.

This time last year, I was a complete newcomer to everything: the school, new mates and new relationships. The last 12 months have been a remarkable memory. Life has been good. I have gained significant experiences, failed and stood up. I got the most exciting part-time job I have ever had. I had the chance to work with a diversity of people from the club, with schoolmates from other majors and the chance to connect with some true geeks.

My assignments are getting more challenging; And I love that. This semester, I have really enjoyed the Software Architecture course. Coding everyday makes me feel alive, more than ever before. I have been going to the library almost every day lately, reading books in a variety of topics, especially “followership”.

I became one of the club’ executive members, initiated and executed its first management training program, which has been quite a success so far. It will take a while to get the result, but I believe that what I have been doing will make a positive impact on the future of the organization.

I lost some of the battles against myself, then won them back. I learned a lot about people. I ruined some of the newly-established relationships before realizing that I didn’t do the right thing from the very beginning. I had a crush on a Korean girl, yet haven’t failed in love. I am still looking, and waiting, for the One.

Xmas is coming. It has always been a lonely experience. I am waiting for miracles, but nothing is to be taken for granted. Love is in the air, but maybe I am not ready.

Untitled

11 Dec

1. If I put you out there, I wonder if anyone is interested.

2. No one will care, I guess

1. Are you available for sale?

2. Maybe

1. How to acquire you?

2. By heart

….

But it doesn’t seem to be enough.

And I shouldn’t have been there with you today.

Today I’m free

05 Dec

Yes, I comes finally, even just once a year.

Today I’m free of any fear. I’m not bounded by the limitations. I feel more ready to connect than I ever have.

This year, I will write to 3 total strangers, picked randomly from the global address book.

Why not just go with the flow, which has always been my favorite lifestyle?

December 5th – Thoai’s day of freedom (free day).

first exam day

22 Sep

My first exam, Programming 2, is finished. I did it well and am quite confident about the result (Gee, at least I will never have to take those GUI stuffs again). The timing was tight; I only had about 5-10 minutes to check everything before submission. One surprising thing is that almost everything in the exams was covered in the review sessions. A problem set was identical to what we had in the labs, which, in my opinion, is not good for testing. Anyway, it might have helped some of my classmates to pass the exam.

Only 3 more to go…

Today, I stayed at school until 9pm to review for the next course – Data Communications and Net-centric Computing. I had a look at the first 5 weeks of the semester realizing the subject is not as boring as I once thought. Hopefully I can finish this revision tomorrow morning in the library and get the question list sent to Stanley before continuing with the revision for Document Markup Languages.

It just feels great these days. I love this exam atmosphere because it keeps me busy without much worrying.

For the reunion

20 Aug

It’s the title of my favorite song, originating from the game series Final Fantasy. The song is about the evil’s will to reunite with its mother thus creating a great power. (You need to watch Final Fantasy – Adventure Children to really understand its meaning.)

It’s the melody that helped me survive back in 4 years ago, when there was very little hope left.

How is black different from white? All aim for survival, and then to live.

Sometimes, life just doesn’t give us you a single opportunity to be angel.

You cannot understand the feeling of evil unless you become evil yourself.

Fortunately, it’s us, the human, who have the choice of whatever we become.

You cannot loose without giving up.

My birthweek

18 Aug

You live in a private world all your own. Your home is a retreat from the world, where you admit very few. You tend to isolate yourself more then what is good for you. You have a distinct dislike for superficiality; you mistrust loud, aggressive or pushy people and find it hard to work with people who lack sensitivity. Grace, honesty and an unassailable aesthetic and moral code prevent you from acting underhandedly or particularly hurtful. You have elegance and grace in all that you do, you are a great admirer of sensuous beauty, particularly in people and paintings and you give your home a special touch. You have a strong soulful side and have empathy for all forms of human suffering. You see a distinct difference between being lonely (which you rarely are) and being alone (which you are often) You can become addicted easily to drugs, drink, sex. You crave peak experiences. You ask only to be accepted as you really are. You have few friends that you are close and loyal to. You can be snagged by a pretty face, sensuous voice or alluring body. Once attached to someone it becomes an addiction and when you decide to be free of your love object you experience powerful separation anxiety. Strengths: Soulful – Intimate – Graceful Weaknesses: Reclusive – Disappointed – Suffering

PS: Sounds true to me.
